I watched the very beginning of the Republican National Convention tonight. I took a nap a little while before John McCain's speech, but caught Rudy Giuliani's. It was great. I enjoyed how he spoke to the audience as though having a conversation with them. It emphasized the feeling of unity and family. I also liked how he made his points through his jokes without coming across as silly.

Seeing speakers from the left end of the Republican spectrum makes me proud of the GOP. It makes me forget for a moment about the anti-gay rights activists, who I'm embarrassed to be linked up with when I express my political views; it makes me forget about the hatred for minorities, secularism, and other primarily left-wing ideals those at the remotest ends of the Republican Party dislike. Really, we don't have to be cardboard cutouts in order strive for the same ends.
